“You should be LIVE-STREAMING, yeah!”

Diagonal Media and The Rise of Livestreaming

Building Authenticity and Engagement with Your Audience

Since 2016, brands have trusted Diagonal Media to bring their stories to life through livestreaming. What began as multi-camera YouTube productions and podcasts has evolved into partnerships with Fortune 500 companies who trust us to produce hybrid events that connect their teams worldwide.

Over the years, our livestreaming capabilities have grown more advanced, blending technical precision with heightened production value. From hybrid town halls and multi-day events to pitch meetings and fireside chats, we deliver seamless live experiences that engage audiences.

Our work has shown that livestreaming isn’t just about going LIVE; it’s about creating meaningful, real-time engagement that builds trust, community, and company culture.

We turned to our Founder & CEO, Blake, who also Technical Directs (TD) many of our streams, and our IT/networking expert, Stamatios, to break down the livestream process for you. We have over a decade of experience in this space, and so we have a lot to share!

What is a Livestream?

In its simplest terms, a livestream is a live event recorded in person (or virtually), and simultaneously broadcast to a virtual viewing audience. Attendees can watch from their laptops, phones, tablets, desktops, or connected TVs.

Livestream Formats

There are multiple livestream formats depending on your needs. Here are the most common we’ve worked with:

  1. Fully In-Person Event, Broadcast Virtually

This is exactly how it sounds. There are speakers or presenters onstage in one location, sometimes with an in-person audience, but the stream is broadcast to other offices or remote attendees.

  1. Fully Virtual

Everything is online. We’ll record live virtual speakers via our studio platform and simultaneously stream a dynamic production to your virtual audience. It’s a great option for remote teams without an office, or if it’s not possible to gather everyone in one location.

  1. Hybrid (In-Person + Virtual Speakers and Audience)

A hybrid option allows you to host live speakers and an audience in real life and virtually, while streaming the show to a virtual viewing audience. So, if you have speakers in London, NYC, and Dubai, we can unite everyone in one single viewing experience.

Livestream Platforms

You can choose from a variety of platforms. But, don’t worry, we have our recommendations:

  • Vimeo - Vimeo is often used by creators and businesses who need advanced branding and engagement tools, including features like audience metrics and customizations that allow for further use of their branding.

  • Zoom - Zoom as a BTS (behind-the-scenes) studio works very well. “It's built as a more robust tool. In terms of quality and production value, it's able to offer more and will ensure everyone’s video is in a uniform setting.” - Stamatios

  • Teams - There’s an AI tool that chooses the resolution. It dictates how you view the video feed and may reduce quality. Additionally, each individual’s view is unique, unlike it is on Zoom. Teams is great for security and SSO purposes, offering proprietary solutions for Venture Capital and Private Equity, including password authentication, dual factor authentication, and allows one device per user. Although we often use Teams and are familiar with its settings, we recommend using Zoom first.

Why is Livestreaming the Way to Go?

Instant Connection & Communication

A well-produced livestream will shine through with messaging that feels more personal and transparent. It’s instantaneous communication with your audience.

It requires people to show up at a specific time. If you don’t, you miss it. It can’t be faked. You don’t get to mess up, and I think people value that more now. -Stamatios

Authenticity

Livestreams offer a spin on traditional video content. They are a more interactive and exclusive experience, and because they are live, they’re often more authentic.

There’s no editing. It’s the real thing.

Building Company Culture

In the modern workforce, employees are scattered across the country and the globe, many people working from home without a central location. Livestreams are an opportunity to bring people together. We frequently work with clients to produce their company updates and town halls, keeping their teams in the loop and excited for the future. Ensuring your employees are up to date on company news and goals is vital for team morale and cohesion.

Can you imagine the value of a livestream for your company, performance, or presentation?

We can.
